F**ING MEN becomes London's longest running Off West End hit and the most successful show in the history of The Kings Head Theatre.

Phil replaces Morgan James in the role of Jack for the West End transfer to the Arts Theatre and tour to the Lowry Theatre, Manchester.

He is appointed Resident Director of London's King’s Head Theatre.

Phil directs students from The Court Training Company in Howard Barker’s THE POSSIBILITIES at the Courtyard Theatre, Hoxton.

The Liverpool Playhouse production of ONCE UPON A TIME AT THE ADELPHI written and directed by Phil Willmott and winner of the T.M.A award for outstanding production of a musical 2008 is nominated for the What's On Stage Best Regional Production 2008/2009 Award. An excerpt from the show performed by Julie Atherton, Tom Oakley and supporting cast at the award ceremony on Sunday 15 February 2009 at the West End’s Prince of Wales Theatre.

Phil devises and leads a new training course for writer/directors at The Arts Educational School.

Phil becomes the most commissioned musical theatre writer in the UK with commissions for Bristol Old Vic, Liverpool Playhouse & Spirit of Broadway Theatre, Connecticut U.S.A

He continues at Theatre Critic for Attitude Magazine and website, the top selling publication for gay men in the U.K. and Europe

His production of F**CKING MEN by Joe DiPietro is nominated as London’s best Off West End production in the Whatsonstage Awards.

Directing Composing & Writing: Revival ONCE UPON A TIME AT THE ADELPHI for a sell out London run at The Union Theatre, London Fringe, ONCE UPON A TIME AT THE ADELPHI receives its Amateur premiere in Liverpool, PAINTED LADY – the Princess Caraboo Scandal, a new musical commissioned by and workshopped at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre for 2012, ONCE UPON A TIME IN ATLANTIC CITY (The US reworking of ONCE UPON A TIME AT THE ADELPHI) Connecticut USA.

Writing: ACT IV a radical reworking of the climax of Chechov’s Uncle Vanya commissioned for, performed and set on General Election Night 2010, directed by Sam Miller at the Player’s Theatre, West End.

2011 / 2012

Phil directs the first professional production since 1792 of DOUBLE FALSEHOOD by William Shakespeare and John Fletcher at the Union Theatre in Southwark, for which he receives a best director nomination in the Off West End Awards. To satisfy demand for tickets the production extends its run for a week moving to the larger Charring Cross Theatre in the West End.

He completes and workshops the new musical LOST BOYS: NEVERLAND GROWS UP for Liverpool Playhouse and recasts NAKED BOYS SINGING as it moves to The Charring Cross Theatre to play for its third year.

He adapts and directs a revival of the Lionel Bart musical FINGS AINT WOT THEY USED TO BE at the Union Theatre and Mark Ravenhill’s adaptation of Brecht’s THE MOTHER at the Scoop alongside a tenth anniversary revival of his musical AROUND THE WORLD IN EIGHTY DAYS.

He directed CABBIES a short film by Ian Rixon, the Line Dancing, Juke Box musical RHINESTONE MONDAYS starring Shaun Williamson, Lynn Paul, Ian H Watkins & Faye Tozer for a national tour and the classic American comedy SAME TIME NEXT YEAR starring Claire Buckfield and John Pickard at the Ashcroft Theatre, Croydon.

He writes and directs ROBIN HOOD for Christmas at the Corn Exchange in Newbury.

He is script consultant on musicals EXPOSURE by Mike Dyer and BIG B by Samir Bhamra’s and teaches costumed design students at Wimbledon College of Art.

He appears as an actor in filmed inserts for the Pet Shop Boys ballet THE MOST INCREDIBLE THING directed by Javier De Frutos at Saddlers Wells Theatre and on C4 TV and plays The Teacher in his own production of Brecht’s The Mother.

2012

Phil is made a fellow of Rose Bruford Drama School where he studied. He is associate directs a revival of the Pet Shop Boys / Javier De Frutos' ballet THE MOST INCREDIBLE THING & directs Shakespeare's KING JOHN at the Union Theatre, Arthur Miller's THE AMERICAN CLOCK at The Finborough Theatre, The world premiere of Sarah Goddard’s A BROKEN ROSE at The Cockpit, his own adaptation of CINDERELLA at The Corn Exchange in Newbury, workshops of new musicals THE LONDON SHOW & RADIO 4 THE MUSICAL at The Leicester Square Theatre & PARIS THUNDER & LOST BOYS at The Charring Cross Theatre and a celebrated production of THE TROJAN WAR AND PEACE (The Trojan Horse, Agamemnon and Orestes) - his own adaptation of the epic, ancient Greek OERESTIA trilogy by Aeschylus - for the Olympic year's summer season at the Scoop Amphitheatre on The South Bank. He travels to Mumbai to dramaturge a new musical about Krishna for Brinda Sankar.

2013

Plans include directing the modern world premiere of Shakespeare's FAIR EM at the Union Theatre, premieres of two new musicals by first time writers, his new two part adaptation of Ibsen's PEER GYNT (Trolls! & Peer Gynt) for the Scoop amphitheatre, a new adaptation and national tour of OEDIPUS, the national tour of RADIO 4 THE MUSICAL, the world premiere of his musical PRINCESS CARABOO for Bristol Old Vic / Ambassadors Theatre Group, a commission to write a new musical for Shakespeare's Globe and his version of JACK AND THE BEANSTALK for Christmas in Newbury.
